Introduction

Guglielmo Marconi is quoted as asking: “Have I done the world good, or have I added a menace?” It might have occurred to those developing and promoting digital radio to ask that same question. Is their technology going to make the same kind of difference? Will it become as ubiquitous as Marconi’s?

Because digital radio is relatively new, and digital TV is evolving from ATSC 1.0 to ATSC 3.0 (in the United States and elsewhere), the answer to those questions is for the future.
