Facility Grounding Practice and Lightning Protection

Introduction

This chapter is intended to discuss facility grounding with an eye toward lightning protection and safety of personnel. Note that it is not intended to address electrical grounding, which is thoroughly covered by the National Electric Code (NEC) in the United States, as well as other electrical codes throughout the world, and which requires the services of licensed electricians/electrical engineers to properly interpret and implement. However, there will be a couple of references to NEC and to areas that are relevant to both disciplines.
