David Kolb’s Experiential Learning Theory (ELT) developed over many years and reached a wider audience with the publication of his book Experiential Learning: Experience as the Source of Learning and Development in 1984. This seminal work has been acknowledged as a primary influence for later methods, most notably Honey and Mumford’s.
The basis of the learning styles identified by Kolb lies in two continuums: how we think and feel about something, versus how we watch or take action.
