HTML5 game developers have the opportunity to take web games out of their customary confines in hard-edged Adobe Flash boxes and open them up to the rest of the page and the rest of the web. Beyond simple gamification, HTML5 games have the opportunity to diverge from the standard game genres into other areas and mediums. One way you can do this is by using other services and websites as the medium on which to play your game. This chapter uses Twitter, which has a mobile-friendly website and client, as a medium for a collaborative version of the word-guessing game Hangman.
