Step by step, we’ll work out a solution to the XOR problem and thus arrive at a completely new type of ANN. Consider the following idea: If the XOR task can’t be separated into two groups by a line, then, in any case, it can be separated by an additional second line, as outlined in Figure 5.2. The two lines allow us to form two groups, which is just what we wanted. Be creative and draw your own solutions for two lines that also perform the desired grouping.
