In this appendix, we’ve dealt with some aspects of mathematics as gently as possible (we hope you agree) and looked at them in detail. The choice of topics was determined by the ANN theory. Analysis and algebra are the main areas that are used with select aspects. Differential calculus from analysis is a suitable means of determining the changes in weight when learning in networks. The calculations themselves were implemented using matrix calculations from algebra. Finally, we haven’t missed the opportunity to at least mention Frank Rosenblatt’s perceptron convergence theorem and Andrei N. Kolmogorov’s function approximation.
