All of these biological, neurophysiological, chemical and physical principles are possible motivations for more abstract and, of course, highly simplified models that we can use and also depict technically. ANNs use the principles of biological networks but also supplement them with principles that are detached from biology, such as the models we presented at the beginning.
The most important principle to remember is that neurons collect input from different sources, integrate these signals, and pass on a newly generated signal to subsequent neurons. This is the simple principle that forms the basis of the ANNs we use and that we’ve learned from nature.
