Proprietary DV Variants
Manufacturers have come up with several proprietary DV enhancements in their bids to capture the lucrative prosumer and professional markets. All of them upload to valid DV files on your desktop editing system:

Sony's proprietary enhancement of DV is DVCAM, which is also licensed to Ikegami Electronics, Inc. DVCAM cassettes come in both Mini DV or DVC form-factors. However, DVCAM cassettes use premium-quality, metal-evaporated (ME) magnetic tape and different recording characteristics intended to assure frame accuracy.
