Jam sync:

Multiple-device timecode synchronization technique by which one device serves as the master timecode generator and all linked devices serve as slaves. If the master signal becomes unstable for any reason, the slave uses its internal timecode, then resynchronizes with the master when the signal is restored. Chapter 7.

Jump:

Programmed DVD operation that starts playback at a specific marker, or timecode. Chapter 12.
