I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Saying “Hello, Procedural World”
In your learning journey as you read this book and search for extra material, you’ll no doubt see architectures and designs that aren’t event-driven referred to as procedural or imperative. Other times these architectures are called stateful (or even state replication). Naming is hard and the more people involved in a community, the more competing names you find.
So, while imperative and procedural are not technically accurate as descriptions of non-event-sourced applications, they are often used as shorthand, so those terms are introduced here. Of all the labels out there, the only ones that provide any accuracy are event-sourced and non-event-sourced.
