So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Capacity Planning
Very few applications have static consumption once running. To maintain an event-sourced application in production, you need to know your event log, state, and projection growth rate. Not only does the growth rate help you plan and configure your infrastructure, but it can also inform your application design. For example, a runaway growth rate might be a sign of an overly chatty (or worse, cyclic) event model that needs to be refactored.
To figure out a rough estimate of your growth rate, multiply the size of your biggest event by the number of events you expect to receive per hour, and then multiply that total by 720 (which is 30 days * 24 hours) to get a very rough estimate of your monthly storage requirements.
