Andrew Ng 氏はスタンフォード大学の教授であり、機械学習の授業をオンラインコースとして
Coursera（

）で公開しています。費用は無料ですが、それなりの時間
とエネルギーが必要でしょう（投資した時間の見返りは保証します！）。最近では、このようにインター
ネット上で受講できる授業（これらはMOOC（Massive Open Online Course）と呼ばれています）が
多くあります。

本書は機械学習の実践的な側面を重視しました。アルゴリズムの裏側にある考え方やそれを支える
理論については省略しました。もしそのような理論的側面に興味があるのであれば、『パターン認識と
機械学習』（C.M. ビショップ著／丸善出版刊）を推薦します。これは機械学習分野でのバイブル的な入
門書のひとつです。本書で使用したほとんどのアルゴリズムについて、本質的な内容を学ぶことがで
きるでしょう。
