ere are a few things to keep in mind to improve your success. First, start with photo

paper that is matched to your printer. You don’t have many opportunities for calibrat-

ing color with this approach, so keep things simple. Choose the paper designed for the

printer, check in the printer’s menu settings that the right paper is selected, and then

print.

Also note that these printers can handle only JPEGs. If you’re a raw shooter, go to your

camera’s setup menu and select RAW+JPEG. You’ll capture in both formats now: JPEG

for making your direct prints and raw for more detailed work down the road.

If you want to take your printer on the road, many devices have rechargeable batteries

that you can purchase. Otherwise, just don’t forget the power cord as your rush out the

door.

And finally, study the owner’s manual that comes with the printer. Units such as the

HP A620 have a bounty of fun features—such as being able to add specialty borders to

your prints—which you wouldn’t want to pass up just because you didn’t know they

were there.
