SHUTTER BUTTON
31
Remote Release
e remote release allows firing of the camera from distances of up to 15 feet. Some re-
mote releases also allow you to operate the zoom lens. For best results, point the sensor
on the remote release at the infrared sensor on the front of the camera.

TIP
Remote releases are a great way to trip the shutter without jarring the camera.
Set or Confirmation Button
Press the set or confirmation button to confirm a choice. Most cameras insist that you
confirm all selections before enabling them. is button is particularly important when
erasing pictures, as it makes it impossible to delete a picture by inadvertently pressing
the erase button.
Shutter Button
e shutter button trips the shutter, but it also provides focus and exposure lock. For
the best pictures, press lightly on the shutter button and hold it in the halfway position
to lock the focus and exposure. Once the confirmation light comes on, you’re ready to
take the picture. en add more pressure until the shutter trips. e trick is not to let
up on the shutter button once the focus is locked, but to keep the pressure on in the
halfway position until the exposure is made. Almost all digital cameras use this type of
two-step shutter button.
