Set Boundaries
Setting boundaries is healthy; we all need to set our parameters of what we will accept and what we will not. You shouldn’t have to allow all manner of behavior just because you want to create or maintain a relationship. Some be haviors are just not acceptable.
Assignment
Take some time to think about principles, behaviors, and issues around which you want to place boundaries. You might even want to make a list.
In fact, your principles will usually dictate what your boundaries are. And when you determine what your boundaries are, stick with them! For example, is foul language unacceptable to you? Are there certain topics you feel are off-limits in some relationships? Are politics and religion two things you won’t discuss ...
