One approach to resolving the AMP Cache URL issues would be to allow users to use their own domain with the AMP Cache. Sure, there would be some technical overhead for the user in setting this up, but if you've already got a website, then you either have the skills, or have employed somebody who has the skills, needed to perform the required DNS changes. It's somewhat puzzling that Google doesn't offer this option to those who want it, since it would certainly dilute the criticism.
