I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Communicate your future perfect idea
So you have your future perfect idea, but how do you communicate it? If you launch into your 200-page PowerPoint presentation, you are not likely to succeed. Inflicting death by bullet point is not a good way to treat your team. Equally, if you stand on your desk and announce that you ‘have a dream …’, your team may quietly arrange some psychiatric help for you.
Fortunately, you do not need to be a great orator like Pericles, Churchill or Martin Luther King. All you need to be able to do is tell a story, and we can all do that. It should be a simple story, in three parts:
- This is where we are and why we must change.
- This is where we are going and what it means for you.
