Churchill described Russia as a ‘riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma’. He may as well have been describing human nature. The collective efforts of tens of thousands of shrinks over the last hundred years have not made people happier or more motivated. They have shown that we are all more messed up than we ever thought.
