So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Extended distance can be achieved using single mode (9 micron fiber) cables or trunks with
channel extenders/repeaters. This is referred to as the e
xtended distance feature (XDF) when
used between ESCON Directors.
A combination of the following products can be used to extend the ESCON link distance:
ESCON Directors (9032 or 9033).
9032 model 5 is currently orderable. 9032 models 2, 3 and 4, as well as 9033 model 1,
have been withdrawn from marketing.
ESCON Directors (9032) using XDF ports and single mode (9 micron) cables or trunks.
ESCON Remote Channel Extender (9036) using single mode (9 micron) cables or trunks. ...
