So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Transmission data checking
When a transmission is sent via an FCP channel, due to its full-fabric capability, FCP
performs intermediate data checking for each leg of that transmission. FICON (and
ESCON) also perform intermediate data checking, but with an added end-to-end checking
for enhanced quality of delivery.
Serviceability
– Licensed Internal Code (LIC) updates
FCP allows for LIC updates, but requires a disruptive channel off/on in order to activate
them, whereas most FICON LIC updates can be performed concurrently without
impacting FICON channel operation.
