在研究與教學領域中，Mathematica 是首屈一指的輔助軟體，其實除了數值與符號運算
之外，其完整的程式語言、作圖功能及互動式介面等諸多功能更使其成為無與倫比的整
合型數學軟體，於科學、工程甚至是金融以至於數位音樂等領域都能夠有所發揮。
雖然國內使用者日漸增加，但卻缺乏深入且廣泛介紹的中文書籍，使得多數使用者不易
探索 Mathematica 的全貌。而這本 Mathematica Cookbook 是全面性的專書，以實務問題
的解決與討論，深入淺出地探討 Mathematica 各個層面，從初學者至進階使用者均可獲
益良多。
從 6.0 版開始，Mathematica 提供簡體中文版本，但由於兩岸的學術詞彙有所不同，直
接閱讀簡體版說明手冊仍有不便，因此本書翻譯原則仍按台灣使用習慣，如有通用譯法
則直接使用（如傅立葉轉換等），其餘人名書名均不譯，較少用的專有名詞也不譯（如
Unification 等），而 Mathematica 專有名詞則參考既有書籍斟酌翻譯。若讀者對於名詞翻
譯有所混淆，可參考本書索引部分所列的中英名詞對照。
此外，由於原書於 2010 年間出版，主要依據是 Mathematica 6.0 版，部分章節有使用
到 7.0 版的新功能，迄今 Wolfram 陸續又發表了 8.0 與 9.0 版，新增的功能必定是本書
