In order to configure Windows Defender, we use the Set-MpPreference or the Add-MpPreference cmdlets. In this example, we want to add exclusions, so we use the latter with the following parameters:
- ExclusionPath: It specifies an array of file paths to exclude from scheduled and real-time scanning. Any subfolder will also be excluded.
- ExclusionProcess: It excludes any files opened by the processes that you specify from scheduled and real-time scanning. It excludes files opened by executable programs only, it does not exclude the processes themselves. To exclude a process, use the ExclusionPath parameter instead.
