Each SQL Server 2005 edition has different limits for the number of processors and amount of memory it supports. After you have completed sizing your environment as explained in Chapter 6, and have a reasonably accurate estimate of the number of processors and the amount of memory you will need in the database server, you should determine which SQL Server 2005 edition best fits your needs using the following tables.
Table 2-4 lists the maximum amount of memory supported by each of the SQL Server 2005 editions for both the 32-bit (IA-32) and the 64-bit (IA-64 and x64) platforms.
