I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
SQL Server Browser Service
SQL Server 2005 introduces a new program called the SQL Server Browser (sqlbrowser.exe), which is used to provide information about SQL Server instances installed on the system. For those of you who are familiar with SQL Server 2000, the SQL Browser service replaces the SQL Server Resolution Service which operated on UDP port 1434 and provided a way for clients to query for network endpoints of SQL Server instances. SQL Server Browser service is installed with the first instance of SQL Server 2005 installed on the system. There is always only one SQL Browser service installed and running on any system.
