It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Monitoring and Tuning Replication
In some ways, tuning replication involves the normal tuning that you do with any SQL Server system. In other ways, tuning replication involves tuning the specific replication agents. In this section you will see some standard replication tuning tips and techniques, along with specific tasks that must be done in order to tune specific replication types.

The SQL Server agents can be monitored via the Windows performance monitor tool (perfmon). Perfmon can be invoked by selecting it from the Start menu, then All Programs, Administrative Tools, and then Performance, or by selecting Run from the Start menu and typing perfmon.
