So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
I/O Capacity Planning
One of the most common performance problems that we experience in the field is an undersized I/O subsystem. However, unlike CPU and memory sizing, it is fairly easy to add more I/O capacity. The I/O subsystem should be monitored constantly, and more capacity should added as needed. As with any sizing and capacity planning exercise, care should be taken to carefully monitor and assess your changing needs. Unlike CPU, Memory, and Network, the I/O subsystem problems leave a very specific indication within perfmon counters. This will be discussed later in this section.
