Multiple Services in One Process
Windows 2000 services are the workhorses behind most of the functionality that Windows servers provide to the network. Microsoft's Internet Information Server (IIS), which includes HTTP, FTP, and other interfaces to the network, are implemented as services. Exchange Server, SQL Server, and the rest of Microsoft's BackOffice product line, as well as most third-party back-office applications are also implemented as services. Windows 2000's built-in file and print servers are also implemented as services.
