IP Security is a security service implemented on the IP level and is transparently available to all the levels above it. It provides the services and applications that use the IP protocol with the following features:

  • Access control

  • Packet encryption

  • Data integrity check

  • Protection from replaying of packets

  • Peer authentication

  • Protection from viewing, modifying, or copying the packets
