It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Case 3 – retransmission patterns
An important thing to watch out for in TCP retransmissions is whether the retransmissions have any pattern that you can see.
In the following screenshot, we can see that all retransmissions are coming from a single connection, between a single client and NetBIOS Session Service (TCP port 139) on the server.
Looks like a simple server/application problem, but when we look at the packet capture pane, we can see something interesting (refer to the following screenshot):
