How it works...
It is important to understand the two terms that define the size of the data units that are sent over the network, as you see in the following diagram:
- Maximum Transfer (or Transmission) Unit (MTU): This is the size of the IP packet, including the header and the data
- Maximum Segment Size (MSS): This is the maximum size of the TCP segments:
