This is a whole new product; this is not OAS with a minor facelift. This really is a new product. OAS was based on the Spyglass listener, whereas iAS is based on the Apache listener. OAS could integrate with other listeners such as Apache, Netscape, and Microsoft listeners, but iAS works exclusively with Apache.
Apache owns the HTTP server in both numbers and ongoing market share (more than 60 percent). In fact, there were more than 12.2 million servers running the Apache server as of August 2000 (see Exhibit 9.1). Apache installations continue to grow at a staggering pace (see Exhibit 9.2). iAS uses Apache version 1.3.
