Eliminating Space Reorganizations in Oracle8i

Oracle has historically been a database that has forced reorganization tasks upon its database administrators. Reorganizations in Oracle are rarely pleasant tasks, due either to its complex nature or its feature-rich offerings of the RDBMS. Administrators have normally constructed elaborate SQL and serverside scripts to perform database and tablespace reorganizations, or have spent tens of thousands of dollars on expensive third-party software reorganization products. In addition, database downtime and many man-hours have been spent to rebuild an Oracle tablespace or database that has been injured by heavy fragmentation problems.
