CHAPTER 3 PLANNING FOR BRANDING
When working with text for design comps in Photoshop, a common “gotcha”
is anti-aliasing. Anti-aliasing is a mechanism that reduces distortion of text and
images at lower resolutions. While this is generally helpful for creating pleasing
designs, it can create unrealistic expectations regarding how your fi nal text will
look in a browser. Because Internet Explorer doesn’t anti-alias the same way as
Photoshop, sometimes text in Photoshop will seem smoother than the same text
in Internet Explorer. It’s important to try a few different anti-aliasing settings
in Photoshop and try to match how text normally looks in a browser. This usu-
ally means that very small text may need to have its anti-aliasing set to “None.”
Figure 3-11 shows the anti-aliasing menu for text in Photoshop CS4.

SharePoint will take some time to get the hang of. One good method for
learning this is to look at the functionality provided in the out-of-the-box
master pages, both
