Creating a Content Rollup with the Content Query Web Part

7. Make sure Show items from this list type is set to Pages Library because we are rolling up
publishing pages. Then, from the Content Type section, for “Show items of this content type
group,” select Page Layout Content Types, and for “Show items of this content type,” select
Article Page.
This will limit the results of the rollup to only showing the news articles, not any other type
of page in the site (see Figure 10-23).

8. Click Apply from the bottom of the tool pane. You should see that the News articles are
being rolled up to the Web Part. They are currently being sorted by the order in which they
were published.
9. To change the sort order, expand the Presentation section of the tools pane. For this exam-
ple, you can ignore the “Group items by” option and focus on setting “Sort items by” to
Scheduling Start Date (see Figure 10-24). When you have the sorting set up properly, click
Apply at the bottom of the tool pane.
Scheduling Start Date is the actual name of the Article Date fi eld that you entered on each
page. By sorting by this fi eld, you change the order of the items just by changing the Article
Date fi eld on the page. Figure 10-25 shows the updated Web Part. Notice that articles are
sorting properly by date.
