You can control which page layouts are available to content authors from this menu. For example,
you could allow them to use any page layout or constrain them to selecting from only certain page
layouts. Depending on the site template that was used when creating your publishing site, this may
be set to allow only certain page layouts. In a moment, you will see an example of what the page
layout selection looks like when this option is set to “Pages in this site can use any layout.”
Shown in Figure 9-4 is another important option found on this screen. New Page Default Settings
enables you to control which page layout is used when creating new pages.

Recall from the previous section that when you created a new page, you didn’t have to choose a page
layout; that’s because this option was set to use one by default.
