There’s also a breadcrumb navigation that shows where you are
within the site. For example, if you are looking at the Shared
Documents, the breadcrumb has a link for each level in the hierar-
chy. In addition, the breadcrumbs themselves can be expanded. For
example, from Shared Documents, you can click the drop-down
for Lists and Libraries in the breadcrumb and go directly to the
Announcements list as in Figure 4-6.
The File Tab
The File tab in the upper-left corner of SPD
2010, located at the top of the ribbon, has
similar options to the File menu that has
been in the left-most position in toolbars in
Microsoft applications for many years. The
File tab enables you to open new sites, close
SPD, and add pages and items.
You can also use the File tab to change
the option for SPD and the Help fi les for
SPD, including the version number for SPD
2010. Most users typically look for the
Help menu along the top toolbar, so the new location takes a little getting used to. Also, once you’ve
clicked the File tab and want to return to your site, you can click the tab immediately to the right of
the File tab to be returned to the page you were viewing before clicking the File tab.
