This accepts a fluctuating input signal and from it pro-
duces an output signal whose amplitude is the average
value of the input. Since all the log pulses have the same
amplitude, the average amplitude will be directly pro-
portional to the frequency at which the pulses are
repeated. Thus for any given log speed, the output signal
will be a steady voltage whose value is proportional to
that speed. This signal can be conditioned if necessary
and used as the speed input to the resolver.
