6.7 The stand-by condition
As indicated in Section 6.2.2, the IMO Performance
Standards require that such a condition be available.
The detailed nature of the stand-by condition will
vary with manufacturer, but in all cases transmission is
inhibited. Thus, although the radar is virtually ready for
immediate use, limited-life components in the transmit-
