7.6.6 The construction of a sector of
danger
(a) Plot the target for a set period.
(b) Draw own ship's vector for the same period - CH,
equal to the distance that own ship will travel in the
plotting interval, i.e. equal to OW.
(c) Draw HS parallel and equal to OA.
(d) Draw AT

tangential to the 'required
CPA' range circle. (Note. If it were intended to
delay the manoeuvre, then the tangents would be
drawn from the predicted position of the target at
the manoeuvre time.)
(e) Parallel T

A and T

A through S.
(f) Any manoeuvre which takes H outside the shaded
sector will achieve a CPA in excess of the required
CPA.
