storage. However, the usefulness of this intelligence is a
matter of some debate. Some mariners do draw conclu-

validity of these conclusions is very much open to ques-
tion when it is recognised that a yacht with a radar
reflector (see Section 3.4) may return an echo whose
strength compares favourably with that from a
