SAP Application Tier
The application tier is referred to as SAP NW AS ABAP. This layer has the business rules and interacts with the underlying database via a database interface. SAP application server architecture is designed to provide services for tens of thousands of business users. Therefore, detailed understanding of this layer’s architecture, processes, components, monitoring, and performance tuning is central to the administration activities of SAP Basis job. Figure 2-2 shows the different components of the SAP application layer.
