11.2.10 | Handshaking in the RS232C Protocol
A number of signals seem to be involved in the RS232C protocol, some of which are
control signals. They are used for handshaking and let us see the sequence in which these
signals occur. Assume that a DTE equipment (for example, a COM port of a PC) and a
DCE equipment (serial port of a modem) are to perform data transfer. The handshaking
signals involved in this data transfer are as follows. Refer to Fig. 11.6 to understand the
direction of the signals.
