Chapter 4. THE PRINCIPLE OF UNIQUE LANGUAGE

The Principle of Unique Language: For any given search there is a vocabulary, slang, or other unique word set that will make finding relevant results for that search easier.

Take a 16-year-old and a 60-year-old and spend some time talking to each of them. One thing you'll notice is that they use very different words. Take a doctor and a mechanical engineer and spend some time talking to each of them and you'll notice that they also use very different sets of words.

Several things shape our vocabulary: our age, our profession, our education, what we like to read, our hobbies, and so on. If you think about it a minute it makes sense that unique language would extend to the Web. If you think about it ...
