Installing and configuring software Know the requirements for installing software. Local administrative permissions are required to install software packages, and software packages come in .msi or .msu formats. Files should be digitally signed by a trusted publisher to be assured of their safety. Features can often be enabled or disabled by using Windows Features in Control Panel.
