8.4 THE SAMPLING DESIGN PROCESS
Sampling design process can be explained by ve interrelated steps. These ve steps are shown in
Figure 8.1.
Step 1: Target population must be dened
The target population should be dened in the light of a research objective. Target population is the
collection of objects, which possess the information required by the researcher and about which an
inference is to be made. Improper denition of the target population will lead to misleading results
