A positive sign of coefcient of skewness indicates that the distribution is positively skewed. Greater
the coefcient of skewness, the more skewed the distribution is.
A distribution can have a single mode or multiple modes. So, it will be convenient to dene this
relationship (for coefcient of skewness) with median. We have already discussed in Chapter 3 that
for a moderately asymmetrical frequency distribution, the empirical relationship between mean, me-
dian, and mode is given by Karl Pearson and can be dened as
Mode = 3Median – 2Mean
