Introduction

Khwaja Abdul Hamied incorporated the Chemical, Industrial, and

Pharmaceutical Laboratories, which came to be popularly known as

Cipla. Cipla was registered as a public limited company with an au-

thorized capital of Rs.60,000 million in 1935.

Operations ofcially

started in September 1937 when its rst product was launched in the
