The Office: What We Want and What We Don’t

If you’re trying to replicate a working environment at home, you should think about what you want. Let’s think about the offices that many of us have worked in as a starting point for getting some inspiration. What do we think about when we imagine the office of a technology company? Perhaps it’s one or more of the following things:

• Open-plan seating arrangement, maybe even with hot desking so that people can sit where they want

• Plenty of communal areas where staff can intermingle, such as kitchens and sofa spaces

• Meeting rooms and collaborative spaces with whiteboards and screens

• Table tennis, foosball, and other fun group activities
