Reading the News

YOUR GALAXY S II is a great news-gathering machine, and will grab news for you of any type—national, international, sports, business, entertainment, and more. The News app does more than just let you read the news—it lets you tell the Galaxy S II what kind of news you like reading and the Galaxy II then grabs those stories for you.

To read the news, on the App Menu, tap the News and Weather icon. You’ll come to a screen with multiple tabs across the top, including Weather, Top Stories, U.S., Sports, and Entertainment. At first, you’ll only see three tabs. Swipe your finger across the tabs to reveal them all.

Tap any news story to read it. You’ll be sent in your browser to the Web page with the story on it. Tap the Back button at the bottom of the Galaxy S II to return to the News and Weather app.

You can add more types of news than just those you see on the tabs across the top of the app. Tap the Menu button and select Settings→“News settings”→“Select news topics.” From the screen that appears, in the News Topics area, tap the box next to any kinds of news you would like to add, such as Business or Sci/Tech. When you do that, new tabs will appear that match the news subjects you just added. Tap any tab to read the news.
