Placing the Tripod
If you are using a ball head, one trick to making sure the ball is centered is to unlock the ball so it is extremely fluid. Then hold the camera mount and let the legs dangle. The weight of the tripod legs will center the ball head. When you think it is centered, tighten the ball head and put the tripod down. If you are using a positioning tripod head, then make sure each position is zeroed out, which will be the default level point.
Place your tripod on the ground and adjust the legs so that your tripod is extremely sturdy. If the ground is flat, then make your tripod as straight as possible. If the ground is uneven, then be sure your tripod legs are in the correct positions so the tripod is sturdy and not moving. The last ...
